We have all been there, in the Air Plane waiting to land so you can make that call you really need to make or everything will go wrong but now, with Virgin Atlantic you can make calls from the plane just not while taking off and landing.
The service will be availiable by the end of 2012 on 17 planes (At least 10 routes) and is expected to cost the same as your average roaming charge. Unfortunately there will be some restrictions, The service will be disabled (due to American Regulations) when the plane is around 400km from the US. There is also limited Bandwidth meaning that only a small amount of lines will be availiable.
